Microneedling | Collagen Induction Therapy with Skin Pen®

As we age the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin texture.

SkinPen® is a device that initiates skin remodelling to treat scar tissue including acne and surgical scars and may also be used for general cosmetic rejuvenation to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, rosacea and overall skin appearance.

Not all microneedling devices are made equal, and results can vary from brands. The SkinPen® is a TGA approved device that is indicated to treat acne scarring, surgical scars, dyschromia, fine lines & wrinkles on the face and neck.

Benefits

  • Reduce fine lines
  • Promotes collagen and elastin production
  • Reduce acne scarring, surgical scarring, discolouration and active acne
  • Reduction of pigmentation and uneven tone
  • Improve scarring such as acne scars and surgical scars
SkinPen® can help restore the skin’s abnormal pigmentation activity often found in skin conditions such as Melasma, Vitiligo and Solar Lentigines.

The Procedure

During treatment, the skin needling device creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin in an effort to trigger the body’s wound healing process. This assists in the promotion of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin.

For most clients, downtime is usually quite minimal, however it can vary from individual to individual.

Day 1 | the day of your treatment, you will likely experience the most redness and discomfort. The treated area typically resembles that of a sunburn.

Day 2 | your skin will typically appear more like a mild sunburn. Your skin may feel dry or tight.

Day 3 | any redness is usually gone. Your skin may still feel some dryness or tightness, but this typically dissipates quickly.

Day 3-5 | some clients experience a mild to moderate amount of flaking.

If you have an event on where your skin needs to be looking its best, we recommend you align your appointment accordingly and aim for 10-14 days post treatment. This way you are able to enjoy the fresh post-glow from the treatment and ensure any temporary side effects have subsided.

Who is a good candidate?

The SkinPen® is suitable for most skin types, concerns and colours, making this treatment a great option for those who want to reduce the signs of aging, improve skin texture, scarring, acne scars, fine lines, reduce pore size and even out skin tone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments do I need?

The number of treatments varies depending on your skin goals. For general skin rejuvenation, we typically recommend a series of 3-6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart.

If you're targeting specific concerns like acne scars or fine lines, more sessions may be needed for optimal results. During your consultation, we’ll create a customised plan tailored to your skins needs.

Does the treatment hurt?

SkinPen treatments are designed to be as comfortable as possible.

A topical numbing cream can be applied before the procedure to minimise discomfort.

Most clients describe the sensation as a mild prickling or tingling, which is easily tolerable.

Any discomfort is typically brief and subsides quickly after the session.
